The goal of this paper was to clarify the differences of gender identities of males brought up in two-parent and single-parent families and to state the correlation of these males’ gender identities and closeness of their relationship with parents. The empirical part of the research was based on a survey developed by the author of this paper and comprised questions about situation in family, Bem Sex-Role Inventory (BSRY)) (Bem, 1974) and Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA)) (G. Armsden & M. Greenberg, 1987). The findings of the research stated statistically significant differences in masculinity indices of males brought up in two-parent and single-parent families. The indices turned out to be higher for males brought up in two-parent families. In addition, the research established statistically significant positive and negative correlations between gender identity indices and closeness of relationship with parents for males from single-parent families. The closer the relationship with mother is, the lower the masculinity indices and the higher the femininity indices are, as well as the closer the relationship with father is, the lower the femininity indices are.
