The aim of bachelor work is to identify, firstly, if there are statisticly significant differences between personal goals of employees before and after the performance appraisal, and, secondly, if there are statisticly significant correlations between the goals of employees before and after the performance appraisal and the achievement motivation. 70 respondents working for one and the same company took part in this research. The research participants aged 19 - 55, males and females took part. During the research the developed survey ”The goals of employees before and after the performance appraisal” was used which has 2 parts. In the first part the employees had to value their stated personal goals before the performance appraisal, but in the second part – to value how fully these goals were reached during the appraisal. With the help of this survey it is possible to assess how stating personal goals can increase interest in having the performance appraisal, if employees define their personal goals correctly – they are interested in performance appraisal. The second survey is A. Mehrabian’s survey of achievement motivation (Mehrabian, 1968, as mentioned Kocane, 2003). Mehrabian’s survey is good for analysis of personal motive like reaching to success and avoiding failures. Survey has 2 parts: male (A-form) and female (B-form).
During the research statisticly significant differences between personal goals of emplyees before and after the performance appraisal were certified, as well as statisticly significant correlations between the goals of employees before and after the performance appraisal and the achievement motivation were ascertained.
Key words: the goals of employees, the achievement motivation, performance appraisal.
