Rīgas Kristus Piedzimšanas katedrāle (1918-1940)

Abstract

Rīgas Kristus Piedzimšanas katedrāle tika uzcelta 1884.gadā un ātri kļuva par vispāratzītu visas Latvijas garīgo centru. Visas vēsturiskās pārmaiņas, kas skāra Latviju, ļoti cieši ietekmēja arī katedrāles dzīvi. Šajā bakalaura darbā ir izpētīta katedrāles vēsture laika posmā no 1918.gada-1940.gadam. Bakalaura darba uzdevumi: 1) apskatīt katedrālei Pirmā pasaules kara laikā nodarītos zaudējumus, kā arī atjaunošanas un labiekārtošanas darbus; 2) aplūkot katedrāles klēra un draudzes padomes darbību, draudžu dzīvi; 3) izpētīt Latvijas valsts un Kristus Piedzimšanas katedrāles kā Latvijas Pareizticīgās Baznīcas pārstāves attiecības un katedrāles tiesisko stāvokli Latvijā. Bakalaura darbs sastāv no ievada, izmatotās literatūras apskata, trim nodaļām, nobeiguma un avotu un literatūras saraksta. Pirmajā nodaļā aplūkoti katedrāles atjaunošanas darbi un ar to saistītie izdevumi. Otrajā nodaļā ir izpētīta katedrāles klēra un draudzes padomes darbība. Trešajā nodaļā ir atspoguļotas katedrāles, kā Latvijas Pareizticīgās Baznīcas vienības attiecības ar Latvijas valsti un ar to saistītais katedrāles tiesiskais stāvoklis.

Riga Orthodox cathedral was built in 1884 and quite soon it became a well-established spiritual center of Latvia. All historical changes, which affected Latvia, influenced the life of the cathedral as well. This Bachelor’s paper explores the history if the cathedral between 1918 and 1940. The main tasks of the Bachelor’s paper are: 1) to examine the damages caused to the cathedral during World War I as well as the renovation and reconstruction works performed after that; 2) to explore and inspect the job of clergy and the Council of congregation as well as the life of congregation from socio-economic, political and cultural point of view; 3) to explore the relations between the State of Latvia and Riga Orthodox cathedral as the representative of Latvian Orthodox Church. The Bachelor’s paper consists of introduction, review of studied literature, three chapters, conclusions and the list of sources. The first chapter of the paper is focused on a historical review on the initial looks of the cathedral, renovation works performed on it and the expanses related to them. The second chapter deals with work of cathedral’s clergy and the Council of congregation. The third chapter examine the relations of the cathedral, as a unit of Latvian Orthodox Church, with the State of Latvia and the legal status of it.
