The academic paper "Detachment in Meister Eckhart German Works" focuses on the analyses of detachment in Eckhart's Middle High German sermons and treatises. The paper is based on the position that detachment is a consistent phenomenon that is widely contextualized by paradoxal metaphors and by varied words – such as Gelassenheit (detachment), Abgeschiedenheit (retirement), Armut (poverty), Gerechtigkeit (integrity), Ledigkeit (emptiness). The purpose of the research is to clarify what exactly Eckhart has encompassed in the phenomenon "detachment" and how to properly approach the subject. The solution is found by separating metaphysical, formal and contextual aspects of detachment, by making an interpretative analysis and by taking a closer look at concepts of - Gelassenheit and Abgeschiedenheit.
