Nozīme, kategorizācija un patiesība Aristoteļa semantikas koncepcijā

Abstract

Mana maģistra darba “Nozīme, kategorizācija un patiesība Aristoteļa semantikas koncepcijā” mērķis ir (1) aplūkot Aristoteļa semantiku, ieskicējot nozīmes, kategorizācijas, patiesības izpratni, un (2) izvērtēt kognitīvi orientēto semantiķu kritiku, kas adresēta Aristoteļa teorijai. Savā darbā es mēģināšu parādīt, ka Aristotelis bieži vien tiek kritizēts nevietā un viņa teorija daudzos aspektos nav pretrunā kognitīvo semantiku nostādnēm. Šāds pētījums ir nepieciešams, (1) lai izvērtētu, cik pieņemama un attaisnojama ir Aristoteļa nozīmes teorija kognitīvi orientēto semantiku kontekstā, un (2) lai fiksētu tās Aristoteļa teorijas atšķirības no mūsdienu koncepcijām, kas būtu auglīgas un filozofiski interesantas aktuālu semantikas jautājumu risināšanai.

The aim of my MA thesis "Meaning, Categorization and Truth in Aristotle’s Conception of Semantics" is (1) to explore the origins of semantics in the philosophy of Aristotle, sketching an alternative understanding of meaning, categorization and truth; and (2) to examine the adequacy of criticism of Aristotle’s theory in cognitive semantics (E. Rosch, J. Taylor, G. Lakoff and M. Johnson). This research is necessary manly due to two reasons: (1) in order to evaluate how acceptable and justifiable Aristotle’s theory is in the context of cognitive semantics; and (2) to investigate if there are any advantageous aspects of Aristotle’s theory in comparison to the proposal of cognitive semantics.
