Retorisko līdzekļu lietojums ASV prezidentu inaugurācijas runās: diahroniskais aspekts

Abstract

Veids kā prezidents uzrunā klausītājus inaugurācijas runā ir ļoti svarīgs. Bakalaura darba mērķis bija novērot jebkādas atlasīto visraksturīgāko retorisko līdzekļu lietojuma tendences Džordža Vašingtona, Tomasa Džefersona, Endrū Džeksona, Ābrahama Linkolna, Džona F. Kenedija, Bila Klintona, un Baraka Obamas inaugurācijas runās. Diahroniskā diskursa analīze izmantoja kvalitatīvo un kvantitatīvo pētījuma metodi, lai novērtētu jebkādas pārmaiņas retorisko līdzekļu izmantojumā izvēlētajās runās visā to vēsturē. Rezultāti atklāja, ka Amerikāņu prezidentu retorika ir piedzīvojusi retorikas transformāciju, ņemot vērā notikušās vēsturiskās izmaiņas, tomēr, vispārīgi, ir novērota lielāka retorikas nepārtrauktība nekā transformācija. The aim of the thesis was to observe any likely trends in the use of the selected most typical rhetorical means in the following U.S. Presidents’ Inaugural addresses: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. Diachronic discourse analysis, employing both the qualitative and quantitative perspectives, was used to assess any variations in the use of rhetorical devices in the selected speeches throughout history. The results revealed that American presidential rhetoric has experienced some rhetorical transformation in view of the historical changes taken place, although, in general, more rhetorical continuity than change has been observed.
