Cilmes šūnu projekcija Latvijas presē (2000 - 2009) un tās ētiskais aspekts

Abstract

Darbs ”Cilmes šūnu projekcija Latvijas presē (2000-2009) un tās ētiskais aspekts” aplūko cilmes šūnu iegūšanas un to izmantošanas biomedicīnā projekciju Latvijas preses izdevumos, kā arī ataino nozares attīstību un sabiedrības attieksmi pret to. Pētījumā tika analizētas 274 publikācijas 9 gadu laikā, izmantojot tekstu kvantitatīvo un kvalitatīvo kontentanalīzi. Centrālā tēma – vai mediji pietiekami sistemātiski un saturiski informē sabiedrību par cilmes šūnu iegūšanas iespējām, izmantošanu pasaulē un Latvijā, šīs tēmas ētiskajām problēmām. Tēmas diskurss ir sadalīts vairākos problēmjautājumos –embrionālo cilmes šūnu iegūšana, klonēšana, cilmes šūnu iegūšana no nabas saites un transplantācija. Rezultāti parāda, ka Latvijas prese nepietiekami padziļināti atspoguļo tēmu. Informācija ir fragmentāra un balstās uz sensācijām.

The paper “Reflection of stem cells in Latvian press (2000 – 2009) and its ethical aspect” presents the reflection of acquisition and use of stem cells in biomedicine in Latvian press by reflecting the development of the branch and showing public understanding on the issue. There were analyzed 274 publications during the nine year period in this study by using quantitative and qualitative text content analysis as research methods. The central theme is whether the media inform the public about the opportunities of acquisition of the stem cells systematically enough and reveal its true content, its use in the world and Latvia and show the ethical issues of this theme. The discourse of the theme is divided into several problems, namely, acquisition of embryonic stem cells, cloning, acquisition of stem cells of umbilical cord and transplantation. The results show that Latvian press does not reveal this theme thoroughly enough. The information is fragmentary and is mostly based on sensations.
