Urban weather and climate studies have perspective, because there is currently an issue of global warming affecting climate on a local scale. For each area, and the object has its own microclimate, surface and air temperature can vary by several degrees even at very short distances, even a small distance, which measured in meters. With more and more world needs the meteorological observations made in urban areas. City and the population continue to grow and meteorological research is becoming increasingly important. Therefore it is necessary to explore, why and how a new microclimate forms. Highway construction is one of the key factors that determine changes in the climate and specific local climate formation of the city. The specific changes of urban environment (for example, air pollution, addition generated heat, thermal properties of cover material) cause irreversible changes in energy exchange processes, the thermal regime, humidity fluctuations, air exchange and circulation.
The Master's work has three divisions with several subdivisions, which include a brief overview of Riga city climate studies history, formation of microclimate conditions and analyses of climatic factors that determines microclimate in Riga city, as well as description of anthropogenic factors affecting Riga’s microclimate. The main part of the research includes data, analysis results and conclusion about microclimate characteristics in Iļģuciems residential area, exploration of the field results have been obtained for case study territory and understanding of microclimatic features Iļģuciems.
The results obtained suggest that microclimatic Iļģuciema main factors influencing the placement of buildings, street network and land cover, which affects not only temperature and wind parameters, but also humidity distribution .The results showed that the wind direction and strength of Iļģuciems affect building layout and street network, while the temperature of the areas most affected by coverage.
Key words: microclimate, climatic factors, anthropogenic factors, Iļģuciems.
