GPS is a navigational system, which, with the help of multiple saelites, allows the owner of a receiver to determine his or her location on the surface of Earth or close to it. e sensor’s readings can be recorded along with current time to produce the sensor’s owner’s travel history. e goal of this thesis is to develop an unsupervised machine-learning algorithm and find the necessary features to split a recorded path of GPS coordinates into segments based on transportation modes without any explicit user feedback.
