In this work Eu and Dy doped aluminate and silicate phosphors have been prepared and the luminescent properties of these phosphors (luminescence intensity and spectral distribution, decay kinetics, thermally stimulated luminescence and excitation spectra) have been measured and compared. The luminescent properties dependence of the parameters of the synthesis (the method of synthesis, temperature, atmosphere, the concentration of boric acid) has been studied, as well as the role of each of the activators in the process of long lasting afterglow.
The obtained experimental data have been used to discuss the optimal parameters of the synthesis as well as a contribution to the possible model of the long lasting afterglow has been made.
