Darbs izstrādāts A/S „Grindeks” notekūdeņu attīrīšanas iecirknī.

on the denitrification and hydrogen sulphide formation at the anaerobic
wastewater treatment stage.
In this work, influence of ethanol as additional carbon source on denitrification and sulphate reduction at wastewater denitrification stage was investigated. Experiments were performed in four variants – in three variants different concentration of ethanol was added, but fourth variant was without ethanol. Depending on nitrogen concentration in wastewater, ethanol was added in final concentration 0.004-0.0034 %. Reduction of nitrogen concentration was in proportion with added ethanol amount. In anaerobic conditions nitrogen reduction occurred only by reduction of nitrate, but in low dissolved oxygen conditions, nitrification and denitrification occurred simultaneously.
Work was developed in JSC „Grindeks” wastewater treatment plant.
Keywords: denitrification, carbon source, wastewater, anaerobic sulphate reduction, ethanol.
