Within the framework of the bachelor’s work analysis of sewage water and drinking water were carried out and several sewage water treatment equipments in Valka district’s settlements, such as Valka, Smiltene, Kārķi, Variņi, Bilska, Mēri, Ēvele, Ērģeme, Vijciems, Blome, Trikāta, Strenči and Seda, were surveyed.
The aim of the bachelors work is to clarify the present situation of water management (drinking water quality, sewage water treatment equipment) in the Valka district and its municipalities. Results of the work showed, that concentration of the iron in drinking water is increased. The results acquired displayed that total concentrations of phosphorus and nitrogen in sewage water after purification exceeds the border values stated by Chamber of Minister’s of the Republic of Latvia regulations from 22.01.2002.
The sewage water treatment equipments of surveyed places mostly are deteriorated and do not provide appropriate degree of purification.
Milk processing plants in Trikāta and Blome do not perform the purification of production waste water before letting into the sewage system. Sewage water treatment equipments in Trikāta are overloaded and its operation has low efficiency.
Keywords: water management; sewage water; drinking water.
