Bakalaura darbs ir pētījums, kas ir veltīts militāro metaforu lietošanai biznesa angļu valodā. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt militāro metaforu lietojumu 12 biznesa redakcijas rakstos, atlasītus no žurnāla „Ekonomists”. Izvirzītie darba uzdevumi ir izpētīt teorijas par metaforām, to veidiem un nozīmēm, savākt biznesa rakstus no žurnāla „Ekonomists”, identificēt militārās metaforas, analizēt un saskaitīt tās. Darbā pielietota kvalitatīvā un kvantitatīvā analīze, kuras mērķi ir fiksēt lietošanas biežumu, skaitu un analizēt iegūtos rezultātus. Analīze parāda, ka jēdzieniskā metafora BIZNESS IR KARŠ attiecas uz visiem parauga tekstiem un tās valodu realizācija ir visbiežāk sastopama redakcionālo rakstu virsrakstos; tādēļ militārās metaforas ir izmantotas virsrakstos, lai ietekmēt lasītāja uztveri.

The bachelor thesis investigates the use of military metaphors in business articles. The aim of this study is to investigate the use of military metaphors in the corpus of 12 business editorials of selected from the journal The Economist. The objectives are to study secondary sources on metaphors, their types and meaning, collect business articles select, identify the military metaphors, analyse and count them. The analysis of metaphors is underpinned by a case study, qualitative and quantitative analysis, the aim of which is to conduct the frequency counts and analyse the results. The analysis demonstrates that the conceptual metaphor BUSINESS IS WAR pertains to all texts of the sample and its linguistic realisation is most frequently found in the titles of editorials; thus from the start military metaphors in the headlines impact the perception of the reader to the editorial.
