Šī pētnieciskā darba mērķis ir analizēt Latvijā drukāto plašsaziņas līdzekļu valodu. Darbā ir apkopota informācija par mēdiju attīstību, kā arī to valodas galvenās iezīmes. Īpaši plaši tika pētīta mēdiju vēsture, senās komunikāciju metodes un komunikācijas veidu attīstība. Liela daļa pētnieciskā darba tika veltīta reklāmas nozarei.
Autore pētija reklāmas vēsturi un dažādo metožu attīstību līdz mūsdienām un analizēja reklāmas presē. Ar teorētiskajā daļā apkopotās informācijas palīdzību tika analizēti Latvijā, no 1929 gada līdz 1940 gadam, publicēti žurnāli Objektīvs un Atpūta. Autore centās izprast Latvijas preses attīstību;kā dažādu faktoru ietekmē tā ir veidojusies. Īpaša uzmanība tika pievērsta žurnālam Atpūta kā vienam no popularākajiem žurnaliem Latvijā 20. gadsimta sākumā. Autore pētīja kā vēsturiskos tā arī tulkošanas aspektus un secināja, ka novirzes valodas lietojumā radušās nekorektu tulkojumu rezultātā. Darba noslēgumā autore piedāvā tematus tālākai pētniecībai un analīzei. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the language of media in the Latvian printed press. Thus this thesis provides concise information on the development of the media and the main features of their language.
Extensive research has been done on the history of media, ancient communication methods and evolution of communication types. A great part of the research is dedicated to advertising. The author has investigated the history and the transformation of early advertising methods to the modern day concepts of multimedia. Analysis has been made on press advertising. With the help of the gathered information in the theoretical part the author of this thesis analysed the advertisements published in the Latvian magazines Objektīvs and Atpūta from the period of 1929 till 1940. Also the advantages and disadvantages of advertising have been addressed. Author has paid great attention to understand the development of Latvian printed press; how different time periods were influenced by various factors such as social, economic and government. Specific research has been made on Atpūta magazine which was very popular in the discussed period of time.
The author investigated the translation and historical aspects and concluded that differences in the language are mainly caused by superficial translations. There are also topics for further investigations provided by the author.
