In the realm of modern travel world advertising plays an especially important role because of its communicative means, as advertising is used to provide information and influence attitudes amongst customers. There is a wide range of options available where travel agencies can spend their marketing budget for advertising, but printed marketing materials, such as magazines, catalogues, booklets, are considered to be the most widespread, effective and popular ones. The present paper discusses certain features of the language used in English and Russian texts in the marketing materials of travel agencies: a certain tone, mood, and atmosphere are achieved by using particular terminology, linguistic, phonetic, stylistic devices and syntax. The author has applied both theoretical (a selection and analysis of relevant literature on the language of marketing materials of travel agencies, as well as advertising principles, ethics, strategy and psychology) and practical methods of research (discourse analysis).
