Abstract

Šīs bakalaura darbs „Četrpadsmitā gadsimta reliģiskie un sekulārie diskursi B. Ansvorta romānā „Tikumiskuma luga”, izpēta kā B. Ansvorts aktualizēja savu romānu divdesmitām – divdesmit pirmām gadsimtajām. Šīs darbs dod mums izpratni par vēsturisku situāciju Anglijā četrpadsmitajā gadsimtā. Mēs redzam, kā karš un slimības ietekmēja sabiedrības struktūru, kā šī sabiedrība bija organizēta. Šīs bakalaura darbs dod romāna vāroņu aprakstu un parāda kā „Tikumiskuma lugā” tiek atspoguļota baznīcas un aristokrātijas korupcija viduslaikos. Tas attēlo, kā B. Ansvorts izmantoja vēsturiskos faktus lai parādītu baznīcas problēmas un feodālo tirāniju 14. gadsimtā. Šīs pētījums rāda, kā problēmas, kuras ir aprakstītas „Tikumiskuma lugā” ir aktuālas arī šodien. „Dižo stāstījumu (teiku)” sabrujums, daudzie konkurējošie diskursi un izplūdušas robežas starp mākslu un realitāti, visi šie fenomeni ir notikuši 14. gadsimtā, kā arī feodāļu sistēmas sabrukums, parādījās jaunās reliģijas, un teatrālo izrāžu jaunie paveidi, kas ir kļuvušie tuvāk skatītājiem. Šī pētījuma rezultātā mēs varam sēcināt, ka romāna „Tikumiskuma luga” autors dod skarbu un patiesu bet ne pilnībā objektīvu Viduslaiku dzīves un sabiedrības attēlu.

The given Bachelor Paper “Fourteenth Century Religious and Secular Discourses in B. Unsworth’s novel “Morality Play” explores how Barry Unsworth made his novel Morality Play a topical one for XX-XXI centuries’ society. It gives an understanding of the historical situation in England of the fourteenth century. We see how the wars and diseases affected the structure of society, how this society was organized. It gives the description of characters and reveals the fact that Morality Play deals with the corruption of both the church and nobility of the Middle Ages. It shows how Barry Unsworth used historical facts to depict the problems of the church of the fourteenth century and feudal oppression through his characters. This research shows that the problems that are depicted in Morality Play are relevant to our days. The collapse of ‘grand narratives’, various competing discourses and blurring the boundaries between art with reality, all these phenomena took place in the fourteenth century as well as the collapse of the feudal system, the emerging of new religious movements and the new forms of theatric performances that became closer to the viewers. As the result of the given research, we can conclude that the author of the novel Morality Play gave his readers a harsh and truthful but not entirely objective and impartial image of life and society in the late Middle Ages.
