Edgara Alana Po stāstu tulkojumu salīdzinošā analīze

Abstract

Šajā darbā tiek pētīta tulkošanas teorija, respektīvi, ekspresīvo tekstu tulkošana, ņemot vērā tādus tulkošanas teorijas aspektus, kā ekvivalents jeb līdzvērtīgs tulkojums un tulkošanas metodes. Teorētiskās nostādnes tiek izmantotas ietekmīgā un izcilā amerikāņu rakstnieka Edgara Alana Po stāstu tulkojumu salīdzinošā analīzē. Vairāki latviešu tulkotāji ir tulkojuši Edgara Alana Po darbus, piemēram, I. Aumale, H. Lapiņa, A. Nikoļukins un I. Beķere. Tomēr, šajā darbā ir iekļauta tādu tulkotāju, kā Vizmas Belševicas un Andreja Johansona stāstu tulkojumu salīdzinošā analīze, jo tieši abi šie tulkotāji ir tulkojuši tādus stāstus, kā „Nodevīgā sirds”, „Melnais kaķis”, „Svērtenis un aka”, „Ovālais portrets”, „Muca Amontiljado vīna” un „Sarkanās Nāves maska”, kuri ir veiksmīgi piemēri tam, cik būtiski ir radīt ekvivalentu jeb līdzvērtīgu tulkojumu, lai radītu tādu pašu atmosfēru un efektu, kas tiek atainots šajos stāstos. Šajā darbā tiek pētīts, ar kādu tulkošanas metožu palīdzību ir iespējams radīt ekvivalentu tulkojumu, kas saglabā tādu pašu funkciju un estētiskās vērtības, kādas ir bijušas oriģinālajā darbā. The present paper deals with the research of the translation theory, to be more precise, investigation of the translation of expressive texts from the point of view of such aspects as an equivalent translation and methods of translation. The theoretical guidelines are used in the comparative analysis of the translations of the short stories of such influential and prominent American writer as Edgar Allan Poe. Edgar Allan Poe’s stories have been translated by many Latvian translators, for instance, I. Aumale, H. Lapiņa, A. Nikoļukins and I. Beķere. However, the present paper offers a comparative analysis of the translations of the short stories by such translators as Vizma Belševica and Andrejs Johansons because both of them have translated the stories “The Tell-tale Heart”, “The Black Cat”, “The Pit and the Pendulum”, “The Oval Portrait”, “The Cask of Amontillado” and “The Masque of the Red Death” providing material for proving how essential it is to create an equivalent translation in order to retain the same effect and atmosphere that are depicted in these short stories. The present paper examines translation methods helping to reach an equivalent translation that maintains the same functions and aesthetic values of the source text.
