Angļu slenga latviskošana Čārlza Bukovska romānā „Sievietes” un Ērvina Velša romānā „Vilcienvakte”

Abstract

Šajā darbā ir aplūkots pašreizējais angļu un latviešu slenga pētniecības stāvoklis, tiek atainotas slenga tulkošanas īpatnības amerikāņu rakstnieka Čārlza Bukovski romānā Sievietes un skotu rakstnieka Ērvina Velša romānā Vilcienvakte. Darbs sniedz ieskatu slenga daudzveidībā, apskatot tā saucamo slenga vārdu krājumu, proti, žargonvārdus, barbarismus jeb aizgūtos vārdus, vulgārismus un rupjības, atspoguļojot angļu un latviešu lingvistisko sistēmu līdzības un atšķirības, to raksturojošās īpatnības. Balstoties uz praktiskajiem piemēriem un teorētiskiem avotiem, šajā darbā parādīta vēlīnā 20.gs. izpratne par slengu, tā atspoguļojums romānos Sievietes un Vilcienvakte, analizējot tulkotāja Jāņa Elsberga slenga darinājumus.

The present paper analyses the current state in Latvian and English slang studies, revealing the phenomenon of slang and its translation peculiarities basing on two novels Women of the American author Charles Bukowski and Trainspotting of the Scottish author Irvine Welsh. Along with various English and Latvian slang component elements, such as jargon, borrowings or barbarisms, vulgarisms and taboo words, this paper discusses the similarities and differences of two linguistic systems, revealing the main specifics. Based on the material of both analytical and theoretical character, the paper combines the late twentieth century idea of slang, its reflection in the novels Women and Trainspotting, and presents the linguistic analysis of slang transference patterns performed by Jānis Elsbergs, the translator of the novels.
