Urinary tract infection is caused by gram positive and gram negative microorganisms. The antibacterial therapy is not only empirical, but may also depend on previously taken urine tests, which show infection causing bacteria and its antibiotic sensitivity. Since there is growing bacterial resistance to drugs, it is important to prescribe a suitable antibacterial agent.
Goal of the bachelor thesis was to identify etiological factors of urinary tract infection. Obtained results show that the leading causative agents are gram negative microorganisms, which had the greatest sensitivity to meropenem and imipenem, but the biggest resistance was against ciprofloxacin and ceftazidim. Gram positive bacterias where the most sensitive to vancomicin, but the greatest resistance was to ciprofloxacin.
Key words: urinary tract infection, bacterial sensitivity, resistance.
