Reliģiskais fundamentālisms politiskās kultūras kontekstā: karikatūru skandāla atspoguļojums Latvijas presē

Abstract

Bakalaura darbs ir veltīts reliģiskā fundamentālisma analīzei politiskās kultūras kontekstā, analizējot nesenā „Karikatūru skandāla” notikumus pasaulē un pārbaudei izvirzot hipotēzi, ka starptautiskā „Karikatūru skandāla” konflikta saasināšanos noteica Eiropas masu mediju un atsevišķu Islāma reliģisko kustību līderu rīcības izraisītā konfrontācija starp Rietumvalstu un Islāmticīgo valstu atšķirīgajiem pasaules uzskatiem – fundamentālajām vērtībām, jūtām un attieksmēm.

Darbs sastāv no trim nodaļām, kur pirmajā nodaļā ir aplūkoti tādi jautājumi, kā politiskās kultūras jēdziens mūsdienās, politiskās kultūras un reliģijas mijiedarbības aspekti, kā arī masu mediju loma politiskās kultūras veidošanā. Darba teorētisko pamatojumu veido G.Almonda (Almond), S.Verbas (Verba) un L.Daimonda (Diamond) atziņas par politiskās kultūras jautājumiem, kā arī E. Gelnera (Gellner), R.Antouna (Antoun) un S.Hantingtona (Huntington) atziņas par reliģijas atdzimšanu, fundamentālisma idejām un civilizāciju sadursmes teoriju.

Otrajā nodaļā ir aplūkoti jautājumi, kas saistīti ar reliģiskā fundamentālisma idejām un virzieniem mūsdienās, fundamentālismu kā reakcija uz modernismu, fundamentālistu vērtībām, kā arī reliģijas atdzimšana un jaunā pasaules kārtība pēc aukstā kara. Īsumā sniegts pārskats par reliģiskā fundamentālisma virzieniem - kristīgo, islāma un jūdaisma fundamentālismu, vairāk uzmanības saistībā ar pētāmo „Karikatūru skandālu” veltot Islāma fundamentālismam.

Trešajā nodaļā aprakstīta autores veiktā t.s. “Karikatūru skandāla” gadījuma izpēte, kuras ietvaros izveidota konflikta notikumu hronoloģija, analizēta konflikta notikumu norise un aplūkota autores veiktā četru Latvijas preses izdevumu kontentanalīze par laika periodu no 2005. gada 1. oktobra līdz 2006. gada 31. martam. Šajā nodaļā veiktā gadījuma izpēte pārbauda darbā izvirzīto hipotēzi un analizē „Karikatūru skandāla” atspoguļojumu Latvijas presē.

Darba nobeigumā autore secina, ka izvirzītā hipotēze ir pierādīta, un sniedz priekšlikumus turpmākai problēmas izpētei.

This bachelor’s paper aims at studying the phenomenon of religious fundamentalism in the context of political culture by analysing the events of the recent world-wide „Cartoons’ scandal” and putting up for verification the following hypothesis, that the escalation of the international „Cartoons’ scandal” was determined by confrontation of the essentially different Western and Muslim world views – fundamental beliefs, feelings and attitudes, evoked by actions of European mass media and several Muslim religious leaders.

This research consists of three chapters, where the first chapter examines such issues as the concept of political culture nowadays, the aspects of interaction between political culture and religion, as well as the role of mass media in shaping the political culture. The theoretical framework of the research is based on the key findings of Gabriel Almond, Sidney Verba, and Larry Diamond in the area of political culture, as well as the conclusions of Ernst Gellner, Richard Antoun and Samuel Huntington about the revival of the significance of religion, ideas of fundamentalism and theory of clashes between civilizations.

The second chapter examines the issues related to ideas and directions of religious fundamentalism nowadays – i.e. fundamentalism as a reaction to modernism, fundamentalist values as well as the revival of religion and the new world order after the Cold War. In this chapter a brief overview of the main directions of religious fundamentalism - Christian, Jewish and Islamic fundamentalism is given, mostly focusing on the latter in relation to the subject of the research - the „Cartoons’ scandal”.

The third chapter describes a case study of the „Cartoons’ scandal” conducted by the author of this research. The case study contains a timeline and sequence of the conflict events, analysis of the course of events and results of the media content analysis of four Latvia’s press publications conduced by the author during six months period between October 1st, 2005 and March 31st, 2006. In this chapter the hypothesis is verified and analysis of the „Cartoons’ scandal” reflection in Latvia’s press is carried out.

Author concludes the research by affirming the hypothesis and providing her suggestions for further research.
