The theme of the Bachelor thesis is Effectiveness of CLIL in Teaching English to 12th Form Pupils at Secondary School. The goal of this research is to examine the effectiveness of applying CLIL in teaching 12th form pupils at secondary school. The theoretical part introduces the nature of CLIL and discusses the ways it should be applied, as well as the differences between CLIL and other ELT approaches. The objective of the empirical part is to check the effectiveness of the CLIL approach in the environment of three groups of the 12th form pupils at Limbaži Secondary school No. 3 and Limbaži Regional Gymnasium. In the empirical part of the research the triangulation method was applied. The data obtained from the pilot teaching, two question-based surveys, the feedbacks from the learners and observations of the English teachers and the author herself lead to the conclusion that the CLIL approach offers a more active way of teaching/learning English, which boosts the motivation of the learners and increases their linguistic and cognitive abilities.
