The goal of this bachelor research paper called ‘Father value in anecdotes nowadays and in terms of traditional folklore’ is to determine meaning of father in traditional folklore families and possible changes of god’s value in nowadays families in terms of anecdotes. The image of father is less explored than the image of mother which was explored more due to warshiping mother’s and children’s relationship and love. Compared with other images of folklore that are connected with traditional latvian module of family, father is not discribed individually. Father’s responsibilities and duties are not distinguished and determined. The following was done in this research.
In order to reach the goal of this work the following assignments were made:
1. To determine a term of family. Take a look at modules of traditional latvian families (full family, one parent family, unmarried man, orphans)
2. To combain the knowledge of father’s value and meaning in families and society on the basis of traditional folklore texts. And also to analyze functions of father.
3. To analyze the value and meaning of father nowadays on the basis of selected anecdotes.
In this way this bachelor research distinguishes all the specific functions of father, the value of father in families in folklore anecdotes and any changes of it nowadays.
The author of this research made a conclusion that father’s image is very important in families, and is as important as mother’s. The functions of father can’t be replaced by mother, for example, giving explanations to son about man’s world, his role in society, and to be an authority in his children’s eyes.
