Vēlā dzelzs laikmeta un viduslaiku sākuma posma skeletkapi Ziemeļkurzemē (9.-14.gs.)

Abstract

Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izvērtēt un analizēt apbedīšanas tradīcijas un apbedīto etnisko piederību 14 arheoloģiski pētītos vai apzinātos Ziemeļkurzemes kapulaukos ar skeletapbedījumiem- no tiem 11 ar vēlo dzelzs laikmetu datētos (11.-12.gs.) Baltijas somu un trijos ar viduslaiku sākumposmu datētos (13.-14.gs.) kapulaukos. Pētījuma gaitā tiek apstiprināta tēze, ka vismaz astoņos kapulaukos - Tukuma Jaunajā tirgus laukumā, Mežītē, Lībagu Kalneniekos, Laidzes Pēčos, Matkules Lanksēdē, Virbu Zunnās, Lībagu Ķīļos, un Lībagu Lejaslāčos, domājams, ir apbedīti vendi laikposmā no 11.gs. beigām līdz 12.gs. Trīs kapulaukos apbedīto etnisko piederību ar līdzšinējām liecībām konstatēt nav iespējams, bet trijos izvēlētajos viduslaiku sākumposma kapulaukos visticamāk apbedīti etnisko kuršu un kuronizēto Baltijas somu, iespējams, vendu pēcteči.

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to evaluate and analyze burial traditions and ethnic affiliation in 14 archaeologically explored fields from which 11 are Late Iron Age (11th -12th century) Finno-Ugric burial fields and three ethnically mixed medieval initial period burial fields dated with 13th-14th century. In the course of this research the thesis establishing typical burial traditions of the Finno-Ugrs was partly approved: at least in eight of the analyzed inhumations in Northern Couronia are buried Vends in the end period of 11th century to 12th century. Considering the lack of evidence in three burial fields there were no unequivocal cultural affiliation confirmed. In three of the medieval initial period burial fields dated with 13th-14th century are buried ethnic Couronians and the descendants of Vends assimilated by Couronians.
