Kanādas reāliju etimoloģiskā analīze

Abstract

Pētījuma mērķis ir analizēt Britu Kolumbijas kultūras reālijas. Aprakstoša pētījuma metode ir izvēlēta,lai sasniegtu izvirzītu mērķi un atbildētu uz pētījuma jautājumiem. Pētījums sastāv no divām galvenajām daļām. Pētījuma teorētisko daļu attēlo divas nodaļas. pirmā nodaļa fokusējas uz dažādām kultūras reāliju klasifikācijas pieejām. Otrā nodaļa ir domāta toponīmu pētījuma esoša korpusa apspriedei un mēģinājumiem klasificēt Kanādas toponīmus. Trešā nodaļa, kas ir pašreizējā pētījuma empīriskā daļa, ietver izvēlēto Kanādas reāliju piemēru etimoloģijas apspriedi. Pētījums rādīja, ka Britu Kolumbija pārsvarā ir attēlota ar sociāliem toponīmiem Lonely Planet ceļvedī. Turklāt, eiropiešu Kanādas pētnieki kļuva par galveno ietekmi uz Britu Kolumbijas toponīmiem. Etimoloģiski, Britu Kolumbijas toponīmi pārsvarā ir Viduslaiku angļu un Senās franču valodas izcelsmes.

The goal of the research is to analyse cultural realia of British Columbia. The descriptive research method is chosen to reach the set goal and answer research questions. The research consists of two major parts. The theoretical part of the research is represented by two chapters. Chapter 1 focuses on various approaches to classify cultural realia and toponyms. Chapter 2 is devised for the discussion of the existent body of research on Canadian toponyms. Chapter 3 being the empirical part of the present research holds the discussion of etymology of the selected instances of Canadian realia. The research demonstrated that BC is mostly represented by social toponyms in Lonely Planet travel guide. Moreover, the European explorers of Canada became the major influence on BC's toponyms. Etymologically, the toponyms of British Columbia are mostly of Middle English and Old French origin.
