Vīru koris kā etniskās identitātes konstruēšanas lauks

Abstract

Bakalaura darbs “Vīru koris kā etniskās identitātes konstruēšanas lauks” pēta ar etniskās un nacionālās identitātes apzināšanos un izpausmēm saistītos aspektus vīru kora vidē. Izmantojot Andersona vienotas nācijas kā iedomātas kopienas definīciju, tiek skatīts, vai un kā korī dziedāšana, un specifiski vīru korī dziedāšana, ļauj identitāti performēt, izdzīvot un uzturēt. Tiek analizētas vīru koru dziedātāju sniegtās interpretācijas par etnisko un nacionālo identitāti formējošiem un uzturošiem aspektiem, iekļaujot tādas kategorijas kā kordziedāšanas nozīme, tradīcijas un folklora, nacionālisms un latvietība, nācijas raksturs, īpašības un ideāli, simboli. Pētījuma mērķis – noskaidrot, vai un kādā mērā vīru koris šodien pilda ar identitātes formveides aspektiem saistītās funkcijas, kā arī to, kādos veidos informanti konstruē savu etnisko un nacionālo identitāti. Pētījuma rezultāti norāda, ka etniskuma un nacionālās identitātes kultivēšana ir tikai viens no aspektiem, kas dziedātājus saista pie dziedāšanas vīru korī. Tomēr šis aspekts vīru korī manifestējas spēcīgi un to veicina vairāki faktori, tai skaitā arī tikai vīru korī performējamās aktivitātes.

Bachelor’s thesis “Men’s Chorus as a Domain for Constructing Etnhic Identity” investigates the aspects of ethnic and national identity as represented in the milieu of men’s choir. Following the definition by Anderson that nations are imagined communities, it reflects on the ways the ethnic identity and national identity can be performed and maintained due to the praxis of choir singing. It is examined how the singers interpret the the aspects which form ethnic and national identity, including such categories as the significance of choral singing, traditions and folklore, nationalism and ethnicity, national character, ideals, and symbols. The goal of the research is to realize if and to what extent men’s choir today can be perceived as a formative element of identity, and in which ways the singers construct their ethnic and national identity. The results of this research show that the cultivation of ethnic and national identity is just one of the reasons which attract singers to singing in men’s choir. However, this aspect manifests itself very powerfully due to several factors, which include activities to be performed only in men’s choirs.
