raksti. The present research investigates a common but controversially defined field of English
phrasal verbs. The aim of the thesis is to determine the types and investigate the use of
phrasal verbs encountered in the articles on marketing in four British and American
periodicals. The employed research methods are both quantitative and qualitative.
The research reveals that online periodical articles on marketing use more transitive phrasal
verbs than intransitive. Transitive separable phrasal verbs is the most frequently used type of
phrasal verbs according to syntactic features. The results reveal that in British periodical
articles phrasal verbs are more frequent than in American periodical articles on marketing.
American articles are more informal than British articles.
