| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Statins, as serum lipid reducing agents, are able to reduce progression of coronary and cerebrovascular diseases. Statins, by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, reduce cholestorol and polyprenols levels, which could promote muscle pain, myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. The aim of Master theses is to assess the effects of polyprenols (from spruce needles), atorvastatin and their combinations in pharmacological tests with the motor function of rodents. The obtained results show, that in the grip strength and traction test, the effect of atorvastatin 80 mg/kg has decreased rats muscle strength. While polyprenols 20 mg/kg in grip and 1,10,20 mg/kg in traction test protected from atorvastatin induced reduction in muscle strength. Thereby polyprenols might be recommended as adjunctive therapy for the patients, who are use high doses of atorvastatin. | en_US |
