The aim of this research is to find out if perceived academic self-efficacy is related to different aspects of emotional intelligence for girls and boys and if there is a difference in these relations also to find out if there is a difference in boy and girl groups in perceived academic self-efficacy and emotional intelligence. To measure the emotional intelligence Shute’s Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (Schutte et al., 1998) was used, and to measure academic self-efficacy Children’s Percieved Self_Efficacy Scale (Bandura, 2006) academic self-efficacy scale was used. It was discovered in the research that statistically significant gender differences exist between some of the aspects of the emotional intelligence and perceived academic self-efficacy, confirming that girl’s perceived academic self-efficacy is related to their emotion perception and regulation of emotions, but for boys it is related to their social skills and utilization of emotions. It was also discovered that girl’s showed higher results in percieved self-efficacy. There were no gender differences in emotional intelligence. Developing different educational programs for adolescents it is necessary to pay attention to the gender differences in developing their emotional intelligence and academic self–efficacy.
