This research work is devoted to the image construction of the Serbs in French society at the end of the XX century through media and literary discourse about the Yugoslav Wars (1991-2001). The media texts are examined as socially and ideologically determined unit. The literary texts are analyzed according to the discursive and imagological approaches. The purpose of research is to reveal discursive strategies that contribute to the formation of public opinion in the modern world, as well as to explore the interaction between media and literary discourses. The analysis carried out in the work uncovers the authoritative character of the dominant media discourse and invites reflection on the importance of raising public awareness about the issues hidden by discursive representations of otherness.
