Abstract

Latvijas sūtniecības vadītājs ASV Arnolds Spekke bija viens no tiem Latvijas diplomātiem, kas 20. gs. otrajā pusē nepastāvot valdībai un turpinoties valsts okupācijai turpināja iesāktos Latvijas sūtniecības ASV mērķus, lai atgūtu Latvijas neatkarību. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir, pamatojoties uz rakstiskajos avotos balstīto informāciju, izpētīt un atspoguļot A.Spekkes diplomātisko darbību ASV laika periodā, kad viņš pildīja sūtņa pienākums ASV. Veicot rakstisko avotu analīzi iegūti secinājumi, ka Latvijas sūtniecības vadītāja ASV A.Spekkes diplomātiskajos pienākumos ietilpa ne tikai kontaktu uzturēšana ar ASV varas iestādēm !un Latvijas valsts tiesiskā statusu un faktiskās neatkarības atjaunošanas jautājums, bet arī vairāku problēmu risināšana, kas skāra latviešu tautu trimdā – latviešu nacionālās pašapziņas un paaudžu jautājums, kā arī izglītības un kultūras jautājums.
