Maģistra darbs „Nepilnīgi veikta pacientu aprūpe un to ietekmējošie faktori”. Master’s thesis “Missed nursing care and affecting factors”. The theoretical framework is based on the works and theories of Hall and Wiedenbach as well as Missed Nursing Care model analysis by Kalisch. Theoretical review covers information on nursing education, practice, regulatory documentation and factors that affect nursing practice. Four research questions were proposed to establish the frequency and type of missed nursing care; what are the causes of missed nursing care; how often does missed care occur; what are the most common types and whether the reasons for missed care can be linked to the demographic characteristics of the nurses. Our data suggest that main causes for missed care in the nursing practice are sudden influx of patients and insufficient staffing to accomodate for it, broken or faulty equipment, inadequate staffing levels, lack of communication between registered nurses and nursing assistants, absence of caregivers, tension or lack of communication within the nursing team and medical staff in general. Aim of the study: to research and understand causes of missed nursing care Research instrument: Missed Nursing Survey Research methods: quantitative, non-experimental. Keywords: missed nursing care, missed care, nursing practice
