Kurzemes un Zemgales hercogiste no 1561. - 1795.gadam latviešu historiogrāfijas vērtējumā

Abstract

Bakalaura darbs ir uzrakstīts ar mērķi analizēt Kurzemes un Zemgales hercogistes vēstures atspoguļojumu latviešu historiogrāfijā un apzināt vērtējumu galvenās tendences. Darbs veidots, ievērojot hronoloģiskos atskaites punktus, sākot ar hercogistes izveidošanos 1561.gadā un beidzot ar hercogistes inkorporāciju Krievijas impērijā 1795.gadā, atsevišķas nodaļas veltot galvenajai problēmai visā hercogistes pastāvēšanas laikā, proti hercogu cīņai ar muižniecību par varu un hercogu cīņai par dinastijas saglabāšanu un hercogistes pastāvēšanu. Analizējot zināmākā hercoga Jēkaba personības un darbības aprakstu un vērtējumu 20.gs. 20. – 30.gadu, trimdas un mūsdienu latviešu autoru darbos, tika konstatēta autoru nevienprātība. Salīdzinot atšķirīgos autoru vērtējumus par Kurzemes inkorporāciju Krievijas impērijā, tika novērots un secināts, kā padomju laika autoru vēlme ideoloģiju saistīt ar vēstures zinātni ietekmēja viņu uzskatus.

The purpose of this Bachelor`s thesis is to analyse how Latvian historiography reflects the hstory of the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia and to summarise the main trends in that historiographical evaluation. The thesis is chronological in approach, starting with the creation of the Duchy in 1561 as a vassal state of the Polish – Lithuanian Commonwealth and ending in 1975 with the Duchy`s incorporation into the Russian Empire. A seperate chapter is devoted to the problem that bedevilled the Duchy`s entire existence, namely the Duke`s power struggle with the landowners and his constant efforts to preserve the dynasty and the Duchy`s existence. The analysis of the description and assessment of the renowned Duke Jacob`s personality and activity in the works of interwar, emigration and contemporary Latvian historians reveals different views. On the specific aspect aspect of divergent opinions on the incorporation of COurland into the Russian EMpire, it must be concluded that this can only be explained by Soviet historioans wish to combine ideology and the sciences of history. Work process also revealed new facets of contemporary Latvian historical research, namely the dating of the early modern period and the concept of the reasonable exercise of power.
