The aim of the work was to study opioid induced side effects. A survey was made on palliative care in patients that was on opioid therapy (tramadol, codeine, dihydrocodeine, morphine or fentanyl). A total of 63 patients took part in the study. The study proves the actuality of the problem of opioid induced side effects, with 60% of the respondents being affected. Patients have good tolerability for transdermal fentanyl (0% side effects), while fentanyl injections have developed side effects in all respondents. The most commonly reported opioid induced side effects were fatigue and constipation. From the patient's point of view, alternative methods have been found that help in the managment of opioid side effects. The use of opioids following the onset of symptoms and the doctor's dynamic monitoring reduces the risk of side effects.
