Free radicals in the body produce oxidative stress and degenerative processes, which can damage healthy tissues and cause cell death. Reveals of the negative effects of free radicals on cells and the association with the progression of various diseases, such as cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, arthritis, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disorders, as well as a significant number of epidemiological studies on the reduction of the risks of diseases by using diet rich in antioxidants products, lets think about a new milestone in medical science. Aim of the work was to investigate the antioxidant properties of extracts of blueberries, highbush blueberries, large cranberries, cranberries and lingonberries and to find their association with the content of extract polyphenols. The obtained results indicate that the berry extracts have different levels of polyphenols and, accordingly, antioxidant properties of different strengths.
