Kalambūru un paradoksu funkcijas T.Pračeta romānā “Piramīdas”

Abstract

Bakalaura darbs izpētē kalambūru un paradoksu funkcijas Terija Pračeta romānā “Piramīdas”. Teorētiskā daļa ir veltīta kalambūru un paradoksu definiciju, kalsifikāciju un šķirņu pētījumam, kā arī viņu piemēriem un izplatībāi. Pētījuma merķis ir izpētīt un analizēt kalambūru un paradoksu funkcijas Terija Pračeta romānā “Piramīdas”. Pētījuma gaitā tika izmantotas tādas metodes kā teorētisko avotu analīze un autora citu darbu salīdzinošā analīze. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka autors savā grāmatā izmanto dažādus paradoksus dažādām funkcijām, saistītiem ar sižetu un kultūras kontekstu. Pētījums ļauj secināt, ka paradoksiem ir sižeta un kultūras konteksta funkcijas, bet kalambūri darbojas ka ierīces citiem autora merķiem.

The present thesis researches functions of puns and paradoxes in the late Terry Pratchett’s novel Pyramids. The theoretical part is dedicated to studying definitions, classifications and varieties of puns and paradoxes, prominent examples and common usage. The aim of the research is to subsequently examine and analyze functions of puns and paradoxes in Terry Pratchett’s novel Pyramids. In the course of the research were applied such methods as analysis of theoretical sources and comparative analysis of other works of the author. The result of the research demonstrate that the author uses different types of paradoxes in his book to serve different functions pertaining to the plot and the cultural context. The study leads to the conclusion that paradoxes serve plot-related and cultural context functions, whereas puns act as devices for different purposes.
