The aim of this research is to analyse case law of European Court of Human Rights and courts of Latvia concerning the limitation grounds of freedom of expression, more precisely- hate speech and defamation. The analysis of the cases is crucial, since all of the Member States are kindly invited to follow the particular recommendation, which is issued by the Committee of Ministers as well, as the case law of Strasbourg Court obliges Member States to follow the European standards in relation to the restriction of freedom of expression. Thus it will show, whether Latvia has translated these standards.en_US
