The title of the diploma paper is “Development of E-Commerce in Latvia in the World Context”. E-commerce has become an integral part of today`s economy and is becoming more popular thanks to its intensive use. More and more consumers are buying goods via the Internet. At the same time, commercial organizations directly or indirectly use this type of trade to implement or improve thei business. E-commerce revenue indicators in Latvia are mmuch lower that those of e-commerce leaders like China and the United States. Therefore, the aim of the diploma paper is to study the development of e-commerce in Latvija on the basis of the analysis of literature and statistical data, and to develop proposals for existing and potential Latvian e-commerce entrepreneurs. The tesis consists of three parts – the first part is the theoretical part, the second part is the analytical part, the third part is the research part. It includes 21 images, 3 tables, 60 literature sources and 74 pages. The first part include the theoretical aspects of the history of Internet development, e-commerce, its advantages and disadvantages, as well as consumer behavior and factors affecting it and consumer decision-making. The second part analyzes global and Latvian e-commerce statistics. In the third part, a survey was conducted among the Latvian population in different age groups.
