Roulza taisnīguma teorija un Sendela kritika: analīze un novērtējums

Abstract

Dotā darba mērķis ir apskatīt, vai veids, kā Maikls Sendels kritizē Džona Roulza darbu „Taisnīguma teorija”, ir pārliecinošs. Darbs sastāv no trim daļām. Darba pirmajā daļā tiek aprakstīta Roulza tēze par to, ka cilvēki aiz neziņas plīvura piekritīs tiem principiem, kas nosaka sabiedrības pamatstruktūru, kā arī nodrošina vienlīdzības tiesības un brīvības un pieļauj tikai tās sociālās un ekonomiskās nevienlīdzības, kuras uzlabo mazāk veiksmīgo cilvēku pozīcijas. Darba otrajā daļā tiek aprakstīti Sendela iebildumi. Pēc Sendela domām, Roulzs pieņem problemātisku patības teoriju, kura ne tikai novērš tos pašizpratnes veidus, kas paplašina personības robežas, bet arī nav savienojama ar daudziem Roulza secinājumiem. Darba pēdējā daļā tiek apskatīts, vai Sendela kritika ir balstīta uz patiesām un pamatotām premisām.

The aim of this work is to examine whether Michael Sandel’s critique of John Rawls’ “Theory of Justice” is sound. The work is divided into three parts. First part describes Rawls’ thesis that, behind the veil of ignorance, people would agree to those principles which guide the basic structure of society which guarantee equal rights and freedoms and permit only those social and economic inequalities which are to the benefit of the least well-off. The second part describes Sandel’s objection that, in order to defend his ideas, Rawls accepts a controversial theory of the self which not only prevents types of self-understanding which expand the boundaries of the self, but is incompatible with many of Rawls’ own conclusions. In the last part it is examined whether Sandel’s criticism of Rawls is based on true and justified premises.
