Meklētājsistēmas Primo Discovery lietojamība Latvijas Universitātē

Abstract

Meklētājsistēma Primo Discovery ir viens no galvenajiem informācijas meklēšanas rīkiem Latvijas Universitātes Bibliotēkā, tāpēc tās lietojamības kvalitāte ir būtisks faktors bibliotēkas krājuma pieejamībā. Maģistra darba mērķis ir veikt Primo lietojamības novērtējumu no studentu skatpunkta, ar verbālā protokola metodi analizējot viņu pieredzi, kā arī aptaujājot LU Bibliotēkas darbiniekus. Pētījuma rezultātā secināts, ka Primo lietojamība atbilst vispārpieņemtiem kvalitātes kritērijiem, taču kopējo lietotāja pieredzi darbā ar to ietekmē arī studenta informācijpratības līmenis, iepriekšēja pieredze akadēmiskās informācijas meklēšanā, kā arī saišu šifrētājsprogrammas SFX nodrošinātais pilntekstu izguves pakalpojums.

Primo Discovery is one of the main information search tools of the Library of the University of Latvia, making its usability crucial for the accessibility of the library’s resources. The aim of the Master Thesis is to analyse the usability of Primo from students’ point of view by conducting think-aloud protocols and surveying the UL Library staff. It was concluded that the usability of Primo conforms to generally accepted quality criteria, however user experience is affected by information literacy, experience with academic information search, as well as the performance of the SFX link resolver when retrieving full text resources.
