Brexit ietekme uz Lielbritānijas un Ziemeļīrijas Apvienotās Karalistes starptautisko tirdzniecību ar Eiropas Savienību.

Abstract

Starptautiskā tirdzniecība ir būtiska valsts ekonomikas sastāvdaļa, tomēr pastāv diskusija par labāko pieeju ārējās tirdzniecības politikā. Tiek saskatīti ieguvumi reģionālās ekonomikas integrācijā, bet, lai iegūtu pieeju plašākam tirgum, nereti sarūk valsts individuālās pilnvaras. Kopš 2016.gada Apvienotās Karalistes iedzīvotāju veiktā apstiprinošā balsojuma, par izstāšanos no Eiropas Savienības, kas ir atpazīstamākais reģionālās integrācijas piemērs, ir radušies jautājumi attiecībā uz Brexit ietekmi uz Apvienotās Karalistes tirdzniecību un ekonomiku. Maģistra darba mērķis ir noskaidrot Brexit radītās sekas Apvienotās Karalistes preču tirdzniecībā ar ES. Darbā veiktā padziļināta situācijas analīze ļauj secināt, ka izstāšanās no ekonomiskās savienības ir ļoti sarežģīts process un tirdzniecības dati norāda uz tūlītēju savstarpējās tirdzniecības kritumu, lielākoties radušās birokrātijas un muitas pārbaužu rezultātā. Arī praktiskajā daļā izveidotais gravitācijas modelis norāda, ka dalība ES pirms AK izstāšanās, pozitīvi ietekmēja AK tirdzniecību.

International trade is an essential part of a country’s economy, but there has always been a debate regarding the best approach to the foreign trade policy. There are benefits evident from the participation in regional economic integration, however, in order to gain access to a wider market, the sovereignty of a country could be impacted. Since 2016 when people of the United Kingdom affirmatively voted to leave the European Union , which is the most recognized example of regional economic integration, there have been questions on the impact that Brexit will leave on UK trade and economy. The aim of the master’s thesis is to analyse the effects of Brexit on the UK’s trade with the EU. An in-depth analysis of the situation in the course of the work leads to the conclusion that withdrawal from the economic union is a very complicated process and trade data indicates an immediate decline in trade between the both parties, mainly due to bureaucratic reasons and customs controls. Also the gravity model used in the practical part of the thesis suggests that EU membership had a positive effect on UK trade before its withdrawal.
