Bachelor thesis "Principles of care for patients with temporary tracheostomy in the intensive care unit". The topicality of the thesis is justified by the fact that no clear clinical guidelines have been developed, to determine how to treat patients with temporary tracheostomy, which is particularly important in the times of a COVID-19 pandemic, when normal manipulation is not possible. The aim of the study is to find out the most important principles of care for patients with temporary tracheostomy in the intensive care unit. The tasks of the research are: 1) to analyse Virginias Henderson's theory and its practical application; 2) to compile and analyse literature on recommendations for the care of patients with tracheostomy; 3) to develop the protocol of the interview; 4) to carry out research and analyse the results; 5) to draw conclusions from the obtained research results. The main research question is - what are the main principles of care for patients with temporary tracheostomy in the intensive care unit? The research method used is a qualitative study. The research tool used in the study is a structured interview. The study found that nurses in the intensive care unit who deal with patients with temporary tracheostomies, as main principles of care consider helping the patient to breathe, helping the patient to maintain the correct body temperature, helping the patient to maintain the correct body condition. It was also found that nurses lack uniformed information on how to care for patients, because the methods used to care for patients with temporary tracheostomy differ depending on the nurse.
