Mūsdienu sociālo problēmu attainojums Kameronas Geretas romānā „Off the Record”

Abstract

Šajā darbā aplūkotas mūsdienu sociālās problēmas, kas saistītas ir seksuālo vardarbību un seksismu, un atspoguļotas Kameronas Geretas 2021. gadā sarakstītajā romānā "Off the Record". Romāna pamatā ir #MeToo - kustība pret seksuālo vardarbību un uzmākšanos, kurā no vardarbības cietušās personas bezbailīgi dalās savā pieredzē, izmantojot sociālās platformas. Pētījumā tiek analizēts šo problēmu atainojums #MeToo kustības kontekstā. Dati apkopoti izmantojot romānu un #MeToo sociālās kustības gadījuma izpēti. Šajā darbā izmantota stāstījuma analīze, kurā pierādījumi no literatūras tiek izmantota kā primārie dati. Pētījumā izmantota kvalitatīvā pētījumu metode, kurā autors veicis dziļo lasīšanu un materiālu analīzi. Rezultāts rāda, ka romāns ir daļēji dokumentāls, kurā #MeToo kustības atgadījumi iestrādāti izmantojot izdomātus personāžus. Romāna galvenie jēdzieni ir vara un apspiešana.

The present thesis explores the contemporary issues related to implicit sexism and sexual violence in Camryn Garrett’s novel Off the Record, written in 2021. It is based on the #MeToo, a movement against sexual abuse and harassment in which the abused people came on social media platforms and fearlessly shared their experiences of sexual abuse. The objective is to analyze the representation of women's objectification and sexual harassment concerning the #MeToo case study. The data is collected through the novel and the case study of the #MeToo movement. It is a narrative analysis in which the evidence from the books was referred to as the primary data. It is qualitative research in which the researcher conducts a deep reading and analysis of the selected text. The result shows that the novel is partly documental in which the incidents of #MeToo Movement has been incorporated using fictional characters. Power and oppression are the key concepts of the novel.
