Kurzemes romi starpkaru periodā: sociālais portrets

Abstract

Bakalaura darbā par Kurzemes romu sociālo portretu starpkaru periodā pētīta līdz šim historiogrāfijā neapskatīta tēma par Kurzemes romu stāvokli sabiedrībā un viņu dzīves līmeni no 1918. gada, kad tika proklamēta Latvijas Republika, līdz 1940. gada padomju okupācijai, kad mainījās valsts politiskais režīms un valsts iekārta, un Latvijai tiekot iekļautai Padomju Sociālistisko Republiku Savienības sastāvā. Pētījumā par mērķi izvirzīts konstatēt Kurzemes romu vietu Latvijā un tās sabiedrībā starpkaru periodā, kā piemēru izmantojot romu koncentrēti apdzīvotās Kurzemes pilsētas. Romu vēsture Latvijā ir nozīmīga, jo sniedz plašāku ieskatu un daudzpusīgāku izpratni par romiem starpkaru periodā kā vienu no etniskajām grupām valstī, gan ļaujot labāk izprast Latvijas sabiedrības vēsturi 1918. - 1940. gados kā tādu.

The Bachelor's thesis on Courland’s Roma social portrait in the interwar period explores historiographically unresearched topic about the situation of Courland’s Roma and their living circumstances from 1918, when the Republic of Latvia was proclaimed, to the Soviet occupation of 1940, when the country's political regime and state system changed, and Latvia was forcefully included in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The goal of this thesis is to define the affiliation of Roma in Latvia’s society in the interwar period, as an example using the cities of Courland inhabited by the Roma. The history of the Roma in Latvia is important because it provides a broader insight and more comprehensive understanding of the Roma in the interwar period as one of the ethnic groups, while ensuring a better understanding of the history of the Latvian society in the period from 1918 to 1940.
