The title of the qualification paper is “Learning motivaton in the oldest preschool age getting mathematical concepts.” The author of the work is Madara Šarmanova. Scientific supervisor Dr. psych. Valentina Romenkova. The aim of the research is to find out theoretically and practically about the learning motivation of older preschool children in acquiring mathematical ideas. To study and analyze the possibilities of organizing the daly learning process in order to increase the motivation of children to learn mathematical notions at the older preschool age. Within the framework of the theory, the importance and formation of learning motivation in the acquisition of mathematical notions from the point of view of various authors is described, the factors and connections of older preschoolers’ learning motivation in Marupe X preschool institution. The research methods of observation and pedagogical experiment are used in the research. In order to find out the motivation of older preschool children to learn mathematical concepts, the children were analyzed according to five criteria, which helped to find out whether the child ir happy to engage in games and tasks that include elements of mathematics; asks questions and shows interest in information related to the performance of mathematics tasks; independently chooses didactic games and worksheets with mathematical elements; shows joy and proud in successfully completing tasks containing mathematical elements and creatively applies knowledge in mathematics in everyday situations. The following main conclusions were reached, which suggest that in order to motivate children to learn, it is necessary to rely on learning by doing. The teacher should teach the children mathematical notions in a realistic way and actively involve them in the research activity, because only then can better learning motivation results be achieved. Educating children through real mathematical activities, in real conditions, with real visual and operational materials will promote the level of children’s activity, as a result of which children will start to actively think, act and figure out the result. The key words of the research are learning, motivation, mathematics, learning in action, internal and external motivation, older preschool children. Qualification research consist of 51 pages, 20 pictures, 6 tables, 1 attachment and 26 references.
