Exploration of the aging processes of ballpoint pen ink records stored at reduced temperature by liquid chromatography. Neimane M., research project supervisors Dr. chem., doc. Vita Rudoviča, Mg. chem. Vitālijs Freidenfelds. Master’s thesis, 40 pages, 25 figures, 6 tables, 32 literature references, 10 attachments. In Latvian. The aim of research was to analyze the effect of freezing temperature on the aging of ballpoint pen ink using liquid chromatography. As part of the research, the chemical composition of ballpoint pen ink was analyzed for the selection of pens for evaluating the effect of freezing temperature on aging processes. Blue and black ink pens were selected. Ink were extracted using an acetone:methanol (1:1) mixture. Dyes and solvents were determined qualitatively and identified using thin layer chromatography, gas chromatography – mass spectrometry and high performance liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry. Constructed ballpoint pen ink aging curves for ink samples stored in office and at different freezing temperatures. The obtained results were processed and evaluated.
