Abstract

Šis pētījums pēta izaicinājumus, pasniedzēji sastop veidojot Angļu valoda Speciāliem kursus, kuri attīsta kritisko lasītprasmju iemaņas specifiskām jomām. Kritiskās lasītprasmes ir kritisko domāšanas spēju specifiska izpausme, kuras arī tiek uzskatītas par vienu no galvenajiem izglītības mērķiem. Pētījums ietver teoriju analīzi un tam ir kvantitatīvi un kvalitatīvi elementi. Teorētiskā daļa atklāja, ka gan pasniedzēji, gan studenti lielā mērā tiek ietekmēti no sociālajām, politiskajām un kontekstuālajām ietekmēm radot atmosfēru. Veids kā viņi individuāli interpretē atmosfēru nosaka un rada izaicinājumus.

This research paper explores the challenges teachers face in designing English for Specific Purposes courses for developing critical reading skills for a domain specific environment. Critical reading skills is an extension of critical thinking which is considered key goal of education. The research includes analysis of theories and has both quantitative and qualitative elements. The theoretical revealed that both students and teachers largely influenced by combinations of social, political, and contextual influences creating an environment. The way they individually interpret the environment define and create their challenges.
