Kristians Mecs (Christian Metz) uzskatāms par vienu no vadošajiem kino teorijas autoriem pagājušā gadsimta 70. gados. Darbā “Imaginārais apzīmētājs: psihoanalīze un kino” (Psychoanalysis and Cinema: The Imaginary Signifier) viņš pievērsies kino kā autonomas mākslas teoretizēšanai, izmantojot psihoanalīzes diskursu. Christian Metz is considered one of the leading authors of cinema theory in the 70s of the last century. In the work “Psychoanalysis and Cinema: The Imaginary Signifier” he has focused on theorizing cinema as an autonomous art through a psychoanalytic discourse. Christian Metz examines the technical and psychological aspects of the perceptive practice and viewer's interaction process. As a part of these, he operates with expressions of perceptive practice that characterizes the cinema viewing experience in a specific way. This work has been developed as a critical evaluation of Christian Metz's theory of cinema, addressing the impact of the technological development of cinema in the context of the meaning of Metz's theoretical work outline and offering an interpretation of the identification process and the concept of voyeurism at the intersections of the author's work psychoanalysis and technological discourse.
