Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between attitudes toward bereavement, components of self-compassion, and bereavement aspects. Also, to find out whether there are differences in attitudes toward bereavement depending on the bereavement aspects in individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one. 110 respondents aged 19 to 57 who have experienced the loss of a loved one took part in this study. "Self – Compassion scale" (Neff, 2003b); “The Traumatic Grief Inventory” (Boelen & Smid, 2017) were used in the study. The results of research revealed that there were statistically significant relationships between isolation, overidentification, and grief symptoms, as well as predicted death of a loved one, age of the bereaved, and more adaptive grieving. In addition, only statistically significant differences were found between perceived closeness, perceived severity of loss, and traumatic bereavement symptoms.
