This work describes experiments with DC magnetron sputtering method, which is becoming increasingly popular for production of transparent conductive oxides (TCO). Plasma optical emission spectroscopy has been used to find the optimal conditions for preparation of TCO (ZnO:Al) with specified electrical and optical properties. High quality TCO thin films with good electrical and optical properties have been obtained.
The sputtering process has been characterized and controlled by current-voltage curves and optical emission spectral lines relationships. The optimal conditions for the magnetron sputtering have been obtained – constant electric power and exact gas flow. The instability of the sputtering process is connected with a hysteresis in the current-voltage curve.
