Research work contains a study of the major problems of copyright protection on the Internet. The author of the research work points, that major problem is lack of protection of economic rights in practice, because the Internet environment provides the biggest opportunities for an individual to share copyright works without the author's permission and without paying a fee.
Based on analysis of various cases and publications, the author concludes, that there is no clear boundary between copyright protection on the Internet and the right on free information flow between individual persons. In this work author offers a solution how to set the boundary, determining, that authors personal( moral) rights protection is absolute and rights of individuals on free information flow are as far as they do not have intention of economic gain, but only for private use.
The author also points on necessity of amendments on Copyright act of Latvian Republics that would determine all questions regarding protection of copyright on the Internet.
